With all the attention on the quality of our environment, a lot of people might be tempted to build a home made water purifier to filter their water. On the face of it, that sounds like a great idea.

If you've done any research on our water supply, I'm sure you're just as appalled as I am about the impurities and toxins we're drinking. The state of our water supply is alarming, to say the least.

Whether it's from tap water or bottled water, what you're drinking contains a lot more than just pure water.

There's some good stuff, trace minerals that we absolutely need to be healthy, like calcium.

There are also plenty of toxins and impurities!

The water you drink contains everything from dormant microorganism to lead to prescription drugs to pesticides!

A study was done recently of 29 U.S. cities' water supplies. All of the water supplies had at least one pesticide in them! Many had three or more!

Prescription drugs are showing up more and more frequently in our water! No wonder we're having outbreaks of things like drug-resistant bacteria.

Unfortunately, it gets even worse than this!

The very methods most cities use to sterilize our water is suspect. Most cities use chlorine to kill off the organic toxins. Now, chlorine works just fine to do this, but the problem is, by the time the water gets to us, there's still a trace of that chlorine left in!

Your tap water could have as much chlorine in it as pool water!

Chlorine is a poison. It was actually used during World War I as a weapon of mass destruction. Ingesting chlorine has been linked to an increased chance of getting cancer.

You might think bottled water is safer. I'm sorry to say that it's not. As a matter of fact, it could be less safe. There are fewer federal restrictions about what can be in bottled water than there are for tap water.

For instance, according to the federal government, there should not be any e-coli bacteria in our tap water. (E-coli comes from feces.) There are no federal restrictions about how much e-coli can be found in bottled water!
